Buggerru (Sardinian: Bugerru) is a town and comune (municipality) in the Province of Sulcis Iglesiente in the autonomous island region of Sardinia in Italy, located about 70 kilometres (43 mi) northwest of Cagliari and about 30 kilometres (19 mi) northwest of Carbonia. It has 1,007 inhabitants.[2]

Buggerru borders the municipalities of Fluminimaggiore and Iglesias.

Demographics

As of 2026, the population is 1,007, of which 51.5% are male, and 48.5% are female. Minors make up 11.0% of the population, and seniors make up 33.5%.[2]

Immigration

As of 2025, immigrants make up 3.5% of the total population. The 5 largest foreign countries of birth are Germany, Romania, Venezuela, Switzerland, and France.[5]

Culture

Derek Jarman‘s 1976 film Sebastiane was shot on the Cala Domestica, a beach located near the town.[6]
