IAI Catalyst is a startup accelerator program operated by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), established in October 2024 at IAI’s first American innovation center, located near Dulles International Airport outside Washington, D.C.[1] The program is designed to accelerate dual-use aerospace and defense technologies into U.S., Israeli, and global markets.
Background
IAI opened its US Innovation Center near Washington, D.C. in 2024, an initiative led by company Chairman Amir Peretz. The center was established to deepen IAI’s engagement with the American startup ecosystem and to jointly develop technologies for both defense and commercial applications. IAI Catalyst was the center’s inaugural program.[2]
Program structure
IAI Catalyst runs as a five-month accelerator, hosting two cohorts per year. Each cohort comprises four startups selected through a rigorous screening process. Accepted startups receive a $100,000 cash investment, access to office space at the Innovation Center, and technical and business support from IAI engineers and business teams. Participants are encouraged to work alongside IAI engineers to develop technologies applicable to IAI’s defense and commercial product lines.[1]
The program focuses on sectors including artificial intelligence and autonomy, quantum science, sustainability, energy technology, and space technology. IAI Catalyst is powered by Starburst Aerospace, a global aerospace and defense startup accelerator.[1]
