Sheohar is a city and the administrative headquarters of Sheohar district in the Indian state of Bihar.[1]

It is part of the Tirhut Division.[2]

Geography

Sheohar is located at coor 26.52N, 85.3E.[3] It has an average elevation of 53 metres (173 feet). The Sheohar–Mehsi–Motihari corridor forms part of the North Bihar transport network, linking agricultural and trade routes across Tirhut and Champaran regions.[5]

Demographics

According to the 2011 Census of India, Sheohar had a population of 28,116.[1]

Hindi is the official language, while Maithili, Bajjika, and Bhojpuri are widely spoken.[6]
