About me

I’m Chin/Mizo on my mother’s side, Karbi on my father’s. I grew up between the hills of Assam and the diaspora, and I live in Queens now… the most linguistically diverse urban area on the planet, which is honestly the only place in America that makes sense for someone like me.

My wife is Karen, a first-gen American whose parents came from Myanmar. Between us we carry at least four ethnic groups, several languages, and strong feelings about rice.

I did my Bachelor’s in Engineering physics, then took what my parents still call “the detour” which was a Masters in Finance. I’m currently doing a PhD in Applied Physics alongside a Masters in Nanoscience. Before all of that I was an NCC cadet, Lance Corporal. Also a published author. Affiliated with City College of New York and alumni of Penn and IIT.

Why I edit

Go look up the peoples of Northeast India on Wikipedia. You will find gaps — not small ones. Entire movements missing. Leaders who shaped the lives of millions, either a redlink or a two-line stub. Languages spoken by hundreds of thousands of people with not a single paragraph. That silence is not neutral. It is a choice, and I’m here to make a different one.

I write biographies of people who should already have articles. Histories that no textbook in Delhi ever bothered with. Languages, festivals, and traditions that are maybe one generation from being forgotten. I’m inspired by Rosie Stephenson-Goodknight (User:Rosiestep). I want to do what she did for this region.

If you edit articles on Northeast India, Myanmar, or the Zo world, please reach out. There is a lot left to write.

What I believe…

I believe Rahul Gandhi is what India needs right now. Not because he is perfect. He has walked into the parts of India that most politicians fly overː sat with farmers, workers, tribal communities, and actually listened without performing. I think he is building something real: a politics rooted in constitutional values and the idea that India belongs to all of its people, not just the loudest ones. I still believe the Indian National Congress has a real role to play in Indian democracy, and he is a big part of why.

Disclosures

COI: I am a member of India Research Watch. I created that article with a COI disclosure on the talk page before I became involved with the organisation. It has since been reviewed independently by other editors. I am also affiliated with City College of New York.

Shared account: Some early IP edit discrepancies are probably my younger sister, who used this account before I understood Wikipedia’s shared-account guidelines.
