My opinion on wikilinks: For those of you who don’t know, wikilinks are hyperlinks on wikipedia (or other wikimedia projects) that help direct users (both kinds) from one article to another. The color of wikilinks can say a lot. I will not explain all the colors of wikilinks, because you can click on the wikilink I provided to learn more! Now for some rules about wikilinks I dislike. First, that you shouldn’t link every common word. Like, what if I don’t know the definition and want an easy link to it ? Another rule about wikilinks I dislike is that Wikipedians should only “Link a term at most once per major section“. If I happen to be later in the article, I still want hyperlinks so I don’t have to CTRL+F to find the first time the word appears. Something fun to do with hyperlinks is to make them redirect somewhere completely random, so the user is very annoyed. Don’t overcommit to the bit, however. If you made it here, congratulations. You either didn’t click anything or spent very long coming back.
