Your submission at Articles for creation: SaiDorSi (April 6)

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by Sophisticatedevening was:
This submission’s references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.

@Sophisticatedevening: Thank you for reviewing my submission. I considered this source[1] from Sing Tao Daily to provide “significant coverage” of the topic. The title of the news article translates to “Digging deep into SaiDorSi[‘s YouTuber life]: Leaving Hong Kong[2] and settling down in Shenzhen, travel guide YouTuber as a full-time job, revealed that his peak income is over a hundred thousand [Hong Kong Dollars]!” The news article went through what Tse Shing-yick experienced in his YouTuber career, and provided some details in the first attached gallery (I must admit I missed this gallery, I will write something based on those contents if I get a chance to do so). The existence of this source is why I decided to translate this article from Cantonese Wikipedia (link) to Chinese Wikipedia (link) while patrolling on the former, and eventually onto English Wikipedia through AfC. Is there anything else (e.g. this source is in fact unreliable, or does not satisfy the “significant coverage” requirement) that blocks this draft? 1F616EMO (talk) 23:33, 6 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
(Even if SaiDorSi turns out to deserve its own article, don’t submit this draft for me, as I want to expand it a bit before re-submitting.) 1F616EMO (talk) 23:36, 6 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sources 1 and 2 mainly discuss the task force creation and not really him as a person, and 3 doesn’t seem particularly reliable (more so like a tabloid). As of right now I would not say that he is shown to satisfy WP:GNG, however please keep working on it and trying to improve it, and resubmit when you’re ready. Sophisticatedevening🍷(talk) 23:50, 6 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The Chinese WP:RS/P states that some articles from Sing Tao are reliable, but lacked consensus on whether this source is fully reliable. In this case, I agree it’s safer to find at least one more source. I will keep on searching, but I’m not so optimistic as most sources are about SaiDorSi joining the DoJ. (search query improvement needed?) 1F616EMO (talk) 05:32, 7 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
And about SaiDorSi getting famous because of joining the DoJ: I don’t think this is an instance of WP:1E, as he gained some reputation prior to that as seen in the news articles about his channel, if I can find one more; and by the reason why the DoJ invited him. 1F616EMO (talk) 05:36, 7 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Sophisticatedevening: There is an update on the Chinese version of this article, that a user added a citation to A Hong Kong Story: A personal media bloggers [is involved in] building a “new bridge” between Hong Kong and the Mainland (Chinese: 香港故事|自媒体博主,香港内地联通“新桥梁”) and removing the notability tag in the same edit. In the source, under the second section “Targets what Hongkongers want from a Hongkonger’s perspective” (从港人视角出发 直击港人需求), it introduces SaiDorSi to the readers, probably fitting the requirement of “addressing the topic directly and in detail.” Would this source give a chance for this draft to be accepted? 1F616EMO (talk) 16:19, 22 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
In the same edit (revision 87994485 on the Chinese Wikipedia), another source, Internet celebrity SaiDorSi is “promoted” to join the government Legal Consultant Group, plans to suggest setting up a support hotline for those traveling to the Mainland (Chinese: 網紅西DorSi「升級」入政府法律諮詢小組 擬建議設北上支援熱線), is added to the article. However, I don’t think this source would help in the context of the GNG. 1F616EMO (talk) 16:24, 22 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
And also, I have heard that it’s either mandatory or strongly recommended to have three GNG-satisfying sources before an article should exist. Is that true, and how would that apply? 1F616EMO (talk) 16:25, 22 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Feedback
The reviewer, MrActiniuM, left the following feedback:
This draft’s references do not show that the book meets Wikipedia’s criteria for inclusion for books. The draft requires either:

or multiple published secondary sources that:

  • provide significant coverage: discuss the book in detail, not just brief mentions or routine announcements;
  • are reliable: from reputable outlets with editorial oversight;
  • are independent: not connected to the book, such as press releases, the author or publisher’s own website, or sponsored content.
Please add references that meet these criteria. If none exist, the subject is not yet suitable for Wikipedia.

Next steps

  • Edit Draft:Free under Grace to address the points above, making sure to publish any changes.
  • When you are ready to resubmit your draft for review, click the Resubmit button.
  • If you do not edit your draft in the next 6 months, it may be deleted.

Should I consider expanding and re-submitting at a later stage, e.g. when the English translation is available, to have a better chance that it gets a broader coverage from the media? Also, what is the relationship between WP:NB and WP:GNG, is it required to satisfy both? 1F616EMO (talk) 03:20, 25 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
