Erich Clar page

I want to include a synthetic reaction that is known as Clar’s reaction. It is of a certain class of cyclic ketones that condense with themselves when heated to 400 C in a mixture of zinc dust and zinc chloride.

I will add references and a description of what it is used for in synthesizing new polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Prismanes, a link pointing to the disambiguation page Dimer was added.

Question

What made my actions a cut-and-paste move rather than a merger? I am not very experienced with this part of Wikipedia so I am asking this out of good faith. Also, if someone wants to change the location of content on a page, isn’t the WP:BURDEN on them to start a requested move discussion? Thanks. SahibeQiran, EasternShah 04:39, 2 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

The first actions I saw appeared to be simply copying one whole article to a different page-name that had been a redirect. The right way to do that is with the WP:PAGEMOVE function. As I looked more closely, I also saw merging happening, which I object to for other reasons as well. I could not easily see whether it looked more like “A+B copied to C” or “A copied to C with a bit of B added”. The page-move process would help clarify the nature of the changes, independently of the actual locaation of the page itself. So I undid the whole set, pending a discussion on how to handle it. BURDEN is a good standard (it is similar to WP:BRD): anyone is welcome to propose bold changes and even to act on them on their own in many cases, up until someone objects, and then it’s time to go back to ho things were. Thanks for the clarification, I see that I merged unrelated things as well. I will not do that in the future. SahibeQiran, EasternShah 04:48, 2 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for re-checking and starting a discussion. DMacks (talk) 15:31, 4 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Chemical Storage Revision for Ventilation

Hello,

I noticed a revision I made was reverted. The reason listed was that the source did not define a ventilation problem. However, the instence I was refrecneing that was listed in the example was when they opened the cabinet and toxic fumes esacped into the lab. Is this not specific enough to ventilation? I believe it was however, if there is info I can add in order to add the example back I am open to feedback. Mreid41 (talk) 14:55, 8 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]
