Ueilà! Tra un articolo e l’altro, ricòrdati che il modo wikimediano è molto sfaccettato e c’è anche Wikidata, in caso. Tra tecnici e bibliotecari di solito si va d’amore e d’accordo; là su Wikidata ci sono grossi problemi di patrolling (mi pare che in media ci sono 700 elementi per contributore attivo; vado a memoria): la comunità di Wikidata cerca nuovi contributori competenti: ha paura che altrimenti col peggioramento della qualità dei dati, Wikidata perda la fiducia degli altri progetti piú popolosi, come Wikipedia. La Fondazione sta anche investendo soldi per migrare via da Blazegraph (era ora), un vecchio backend basato su Java. Hanno grossi problemi di scalabilità; hanno fermato da anni le grosse importazioni e dovuto anche dividere il grafo in due partizioni, eseguiti su due istanze diverse. Anch’io ho dei progetti su Wikidata, che ormai è il mio progetto preferito, insieme con Meta-Wiki, e spero di riuscire a realizzarli nei prossimi mesi. Come volontario, ho provato un giorno solo o due sotto Natale (negli ultimi mesi non ho tempo assolutamente per nulla), ma ho fatto in tempo a vedere che con m:OpenRefine + m:QuickStatements partendo da zero ho fatto (se non sbaglio) oltre 9000 edit con fonti goivernative indiane in mezza giornata. OpenRefine in particolare serve per riconciliare i dati importati, cioè per identificare (partendo da un CSV) in maniera veloce e accurata corrispondenze tra i dati d’importazione e quelli già in Wikidata (spesso ci sono nomi diversi per lo stesso elemento, oppre elementi diversi con nomi simili). Serve anche a sttrutturate le fonti e la compilazione dei dati.

Wikidata è sicuramente un ambiente piú “tecnico” e meno “politico”: piú aperto, dove le gerarchie (formali o no) basate sull’anzianità e il mantenimento delle “tradizioni” o della cosiddetta “cultura locale” hanno molta meno importanza (forse nulla). Quest’anno sono stato trattato veramente malissimo, sempre gratuitamente (non ho problemi a dirlo, anzi ora ci metto anche la faccia), e il mio budget di pazienza per le stesse situazioni viste e riviste era scaduto. Mi ritengo favorevole a collaborare con tutti, ma ho trovato migliori impieghi del mio tempo che mi permettono di contribuire piú e meglio, fare nuove amicizie wikimediane e, collateralmente, anche salvaguardare quel minimo attaccamento alla dignità personale che mi era rimasto e che intendo preservare, in certi ambienti che sembrano sempre meno collaborativi e sempre piú un Far West dove solo in pochi, però, hanno licenza di sparare ad alzo zero a qualsiasi cosa si muova. Anche ad altri wiki-colleghi, molto recentemente e per le stesse identiche dinamiche, è venuta la mia stessa idea di trovare una piú favorevole ricollocazione. Siamo sempre alle solite storie (viste e riviste e riviste e riviste e riviste) e credo che non tutti hanno voglia d’imbarcarsi in continuazione in queste vicende: io certamente no. Non mi dilungo. Chiuso il discorso.

Tornando a ciò che conta, se è per liberare la conoscenza, il motivo che dovrebbe unirci e portarci qui, secondo me Wikidata potrebbe essere anche piú rilevante per il futuro dei progetti, rispetto ai testi di Wikipedia (non per sminuire il tuo lavoro, benintesi, o di chiccessia: non sia mai). Io ultimamente collaboro su Wikidata in ambienti un po’ tecnici con i wikimediani indiani, ma c’è anche chi si affaccia su Wikidata con un retroterra da bibliotecario. Provare non è difficile.
