Chomiak/Freeland

Perhaps you could open an RFC on how to refer to Michael Chomiak and his newspaper in his article and Chrystia Freeland? I’m afraid I’m swamped with things in real life and don’t have the bandwidth. Wellington Bay (talk) 12:03, 6 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

I’m keeping an eye on things… You may have noticed I left a message on WT:CANADA to draw some more attention to the situation. I was planning to leave you a message and let you know that I admit you were right — I shouldn’t have defended this editor, I may have just emboldened them. To tell you the truth I’m hoping we can direct the majority of the disruption towards Chomiak’s article instead of Freeland’s because it gets 1/16th of the views and he’s been dead for 40 odd years. Not sure an RFC is needed just yet, we’ll see how far they take it, but that might be where we end up. Cheers, MediaKyle (talk) 12:10, 6 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Cambridge Bay shooting

Thanks for the heads-up. Are shootings like that notable? It’s not really mentioned here anymore. There are more pressing concerns such as this, which hasn’t been solved and the associated crack epidemic that’s been a problem for months. CambridgeBayWeather (#1 deranged), Uqaqatigijaa (talk), Huliva 03:03, 7 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it’s hard to say. I think our true crime fans would defend it, but I would hazard a guess that it doesn’t meet WP:NEVENT. I tend to be generally against these sorts of articles because I don’t imagine the families of the victims much appreciate them… That’s mostly why I brought it to your attention. Should I send it to AfD, do you think? MediaKyle (talk) 10:18, 7 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I would agree to deletion. CambridgeBayWeather (#1 deranged), Uqaqatigijaa (talk), Huliva 15:16, 11 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Titanic articles

The sources were missing, not fictitious. I’ve added them. DuncanHill (talk) 23:14, 11 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

I still believe that the articles are AI-generated. The author responded to the notifications with “Okay, sorry.” … But I’m not worried enough to take any more action than I already have. Thanks, MediaKyle (talk) 23:16, 11 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Sylvain Charlebois

Thank you for the changes on the Sylvain Charlebois Wikipedia page. FYI, as mentioned on the French page, Charlebois is the recipient of the Charles III Coronation Medal for his service to the community. Would appreciate being added, thank you. ~2026-23405-78 (talk) 14:44, 15 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, happy to help. I’m not entirely caught up on the history of this article, but I hear him on the radio sometimes and he seems like a reasonable fellow to me. That being said, to be honest with you, I’m not comfortable working on the article any more than I already have. The fact that it’s indefinitely extended-confirmed-protected, really quite the feat around here, tells me that any edits made will be subject to an excessive level of scrutiny. Indeed, 32 editors have the article on their watchlist, and to have to defend the addition of a medal which 300 other Nova Scotians received as well is beyond my remit. I’m not opposed to it being included, in fact I’ve added it to several other articles, I just can’t add it to this one. I know this is probably frustrating and I apologize. Best of luck, MediaKyle (talk) 14:57, 15 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Promotional tag on Stefanie Green

I saw you (appropriately) added the promotional-content tag to Stefanie Green. Over the last few weeks, I made a few edits to address the issues. Checking to see if you’re willing to reassess. Summary:

  • Removed promotional language per Wikipedia:Peacock and replaced a broken reference with a transcript from the Parliament of Canada website (diff); note: earlier related cleanup at (diff) while not logged in (rookie mistake, sorry)
  • Removed content about Dying with Dignity Canada per Wikipedia:Undue (diff)
  • Corrected terminology to “medical assistance in dying,” which is the term used in Canadian law (diff)
  • Added two peer-reviewed publications to establish authority in the subject’s field of expertise (diff)

Checking in to see if you’re open to removing the promotional tag given these edits. I am happy to address further concerns. Thank you! Isolary (talk) 18:30, 17 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Isolary, thanks for reaching out. You don’t need to ask my permission to remove the tag… if you think you’ve resolved the issue, I won’t stand in your way. I would remove the YouTube links first. It does look better now, although it’s a bit lacking in citations… The entire first paragraph under “Education and career” has none at all, but that’s a separate issue. As a fellow Nova Scotian I can’t be too harsh. Cheers, MediaKyle (talk) 19:19, 17 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Noted on the tag; thank you. I’ll attempt some more quality improvements as well. Appreciate your time. Isolary (talk) 19:22, 17 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]
