Albert Street

Hi Pam, is it possible to check I have done Albert Street tram stop correctly? thanks! Busandtrainfannorthwestgeography (talk) 14:33, 5 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@Busandtrainfannorthwestgeography Hallo, I didn’t get round to this yesterday and I see I’m late to the party as several other editors have made useful changes. Have a look at their improvements – eg we don’t use “the” in dates like “5 April”, and “along side” sounds more like place than time so that “along with” is indeed better. It seems a sound little article, with enough independent sources to claim notability. Thanks for your work on it.
Just a few comments:
I’d suggest unlinking “England” as we don’t link major countries.
In “Facilitites” I don’t think the words “some” and “located” add anything and suggest you trim them out. I’m not sure that “wheelchair friendly” is an encyclopedic term. There’s mention of “the island platform”, but nowhere in the article are the platforms described.
In “Services” you could avoid duplicating “services” by just removing “with services” and putting a comma instead.
I literally don’t understand the “Interchanges” section, but it’s ungrammatical anyway as “Interchanges” is plural so needs “are”. But what does it mean?
But as I see it the main problem is the red linked MIDM in the succession box / route diagram. Yes, I can see that every other station on the line seems to have it, but that’s no reason to continue the error. (See Special:WhatLinksHere/MIDM, which shows it is linked from 28 articles, all of which look like tram stops on the same network). MIDM doesn’t seem to be used anywhere for anything! I presume it should say West Midlands Metro. After you change it, you might like to go round changing all the other ones too, as a helpful way to improve the encyclopedia. Consistency is in general a good thing, but not if it’s consistently wrong – in this case, copying the format of existing articles, always a good idea up to a point, has perpetuated the problem. If “MIDM” was an abbreviation noted in the article at West Midlands Metro,we could make a redirect from it, but it isn’t, and googling MIDM with Metro doesn’t find anything except Wikipedia articles, suggesting that the abbreviation is really not used.
If you see a red link somewhere which ought not to be red, think about it and check what’s happening – it might be a typo or misspelling (eg someone linked as “Anne” instead of “Ann”), or, as in this case, something which has been copied over and over wrongly.
OK, enough. I hope some of that is useful. Happy Editing! PamD 09:12, 6 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Busandtrainfannorthwestgeography Couple more points I noticed when looking at Millennium Point tram stop and realising Albert Street was the same:
  1. There was a “References” heading but no {{reflist}}
  2. Route diagrams for stations go at the end, after Refs and External Links
I’ve tweaked Millennium Point, but will leave Albert Bridge to you to fix. PamD 09:20, 6 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Midland Blue

Hi! Thanks for your help/advice on Albert street is it possible you could do the same for midland bluebird for reference this was a requested article. thanks! Busandtrainfannorthwestgeography (talk) 09:16, 6 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@Busandtrainfannorthwestgeography I really need to get on with some other stuff, but at a quick glimpse… (Oh, and thanks for remembering to link the article you’re talking abnout – it’s better to get capitals right too, as sometimes there can exist two articles which only differ in their capitals).
In general I think articles on bus companies are more likely to be notable than articles on individual bus routes (except for outstanding ones like the lovely Stagecoach bus route 555), so you’ll probably find articles on companies are less likely to get deleted (I tried, with that one which was used in the Bolton Octagon production…), so more satisfying to create.
A few little things:
  • Remember to use straight quotes/apostrophes, not slanted/curly ones as you did in “McGill’s” (should be “McGill’s”) throughout. If this is a problem with your keyboard or software, you need to work out a way to get them straight.
  • Make a redirect from the name McGill’s Midland Bluebird, and then bold it in the lead as an alternative name. … Ah, while I’m typing it has been moved, which creates a redirect from the old title. Still needs to have the other title in bold in the lead. I’ve also added a hatnote at Midland Scottish because after the edits and moves by @Hullian111 it wasn’t easy to find this Bluebird.
  • Dates – remember not to use “the 6 September…”. It’s all set out in MOS:DATE
  • In “Operations”, numbers ten and less should be spelled out, not “2”
  • there is no apostrophe in the plural “depot’s”. (It’s sometimes called the greengrocers’ apostrophe in a gentle dig at all the price tags for “Carrot’s” etc!)
Must get on with some Real Life stuff now. Hope that helps. I leave it to you and Hullian111 to discuss what title it should be at etc. Happy editing! (Oh, and if you’re replying to a post on a talk page it’s tidier to use the “Reply” button if it’s available, or just add it under the post and indented, so that a thread stays together under its heading. Hi, put together a hurried copyedit due to very limited time on my end. Not going to lie, was going to wait for someone to close the splitting discussion, but I’ll be happy to work on it from there. Will likely move over some stuff from the main McGill’s article when I get back in later today. Hullian111 (talk) 10:16, 6 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]
