No hard feelings

If I came off as a bit harsh in that MFD, I didn’t intend it. That’s a content forum, so I couldn’t tell you that yeah, that user definitely needed to be blocked. Chess enjoyer (talk) 05:02, 22 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Chess enjoyer, all good. I was considering taking it to ANI to start with. I should have gone with my gut instinct first. TarnishedPathtalk 05:04, 22 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Template Editor

Your account has been granted the “templateeditor” user permission, allowing you to edit templates and modules that have been protected with template protection. It also allows you to bypass the title blacklist, giving you the ability to create and edit editnotices. Before you use this user right, please read Wikipedia:Template editor and make sure you understand its contents. In particular, you should read the section on wise template editing and the criteria for revocation.

You can use this user right to perform maintenance, answer edit requests, and make any other simple and generally uncontroversial edits to templates, modules, and editnotices. You can also use it to enact more complex or controversial edits, after those edits are first made to a test sandbox, and their technical reliability as well as their consensus among other informed editors has been established. If you are willing to process edit requests on templates and modules, keep in mind that you are taking responsibility to ensure the edits have consensus and are technically sound.

This user right gives you access to some of Wikipedia’s most important templates and modules; it is critical that you edit them wisely and that you only make edits that are backed up by consensus. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password.

If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

If you were granted the permission on a temporary basis you will need to re-apply for the permission a few days before it expires including in your request a permalink to the discussion where it was granted and a {{Reply to}} for the administrator who granted the permission. You can find the permalink in your rights log.

Wikipedia Library

Hi there. I just want to thank you for bringing up Wikipedia Library during the GAN review of Photograph of Prince Andrew, Virginia Giuffre and Ghislaine Maxwell. I always find it annoying if certain sources are paywalled, and I wish I had researched this library thing earlier. It’s immensely helpful, so again thank you! AdaCiccone (talk) 04:37, 5 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@AdaCiccone no worries.
I’m not sure how much of a play around you’ve had with it. The mainpage for it is at https://wikipedialibrary.wmflabs.org/. That URL (https://wikipedialibrary.idm.oclc.org/login?auth=production&url=) is for pasting in front of other URLs when you already know that something is avialable through the library.
If you’re ever looking for stuff that is from newspapers which is behind a paywall, ProQuest is often a good place to start (https://wikipedialibrary.idm.oclc.org/login?auth=production&url=https://www.proquest.com/ip). Also if you’re looking for historical news reporting, you can apply for access to newspapers.com through the library (though there’s a wait to get access to that though as Wikimedia has limited licenses). If you ever need something from newspapers.com looking up (you can generally tell from the reference parameters/URL), feel free to email me as I have one of the Wikimedia licenses (I use it a lot for verification in my work on did you know). TarnishedPathtalk 05:10, 5 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Noted, thanks. But can the URL you gave me be used that way (inserting the URL after the =) continuously? Will I hit a limit or something? Or is searching via the Search bar at the top the preferred way? AdaCiccone (talk) 12:47, 5 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
No limit, as long as the source is one that is standardly available through the Wikipedia Library. It won’t work with newspapers.com. You need to have a user license for that. Notably, Wikipedia Library doesn’t give access to everything through ProQuest. They must have limited access. TarnishedPathtalk 13:20, 5 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Noted, thank you. AdaCiccone (talk) 04:39, 7 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Your good article nomination of the article Photograph of Prince Andrew, Virginia Giuffre and Ghislaine Maxwell has passed; congratulations! See the review page for more information. If the article is eligible to appear in the “Did you know” section of the Main Page, you can nominate it within the next seven days. Please also consider reviewing somebody else’s nomination to help keep the backlog down. Message delivered by ChristieBot, on behalf of AdaCicconeAdaCiccone (talk) 13:25, 5 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]

AN etiquette

Hello, pardon me for asking, but I wanted to ask if you have any advice regarding comments there. I usually avoid it, so I’m not sure if it is appropriate, but there is currently an open discussion about them and I’m willing to contribute an account of one of our interactions. Cheers. DN (talk) 05:08, 14 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Darknipples,
If you want to contribute, I’d suggest describing any diffs that you add in the clearest possible manner. Stick to the facts and try not to personalise it. TarnishedPathtalk 06:35, 14 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Talk:Gulf of Mexico

Would you mind esiting the moratorium template on the talk page to make it more obvious then? Trade (talk) 09:25, 14 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@Trade, no worries. It will have to wait until tomorrow though because I’m about to go to bed and editing templates isn’t always trivial. TarnishedPathtalk 11:39, 14 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Trade, done. See Special:Diff/1359379779. TarnishedPathtalk 23:20, 14 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Your removal of my edit to Gulf of Mexico

Good evening TarnishedPath,

I noticed that you have reverted my edit to Gulf of Mexico, falsely stating that there is consensus against my edit, however, there is no such consensus in the talk page. Please explain your reason for reverting my edit, and please inform me of where this so-called “consensus” is.
