Curious about what this covers. Could someone send me the index? If I find anything interesting, I may ask for some excerpts. Hoping to improve or create musician articles related to hyperpop or digicore.

Thanks, Averageuntitleduser (talk) 20:01, 8 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Averageuntitleduser while I do not have access to the book you requested, I stumbled upon this article by the same author, also about hyperpop, which I do have access to. Email me and let me know if you want the TOC to that. YuniToumei (talk) 21:29, 3 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@YuniToumei: thanks for pointing it out, and it is a good overview of parody and transgressions in the genre’s style. Still, I wonder if the book profiles musicians in more depth. Averageuntitleduser (talk) 04:53, 5 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

For Cult of Zeus, currently under construction at User:Michael Aurel/Zeus. It would be excellent to have the part (or parts) that discuss the cult of Zeus and its origins at the site. Looking at a few reviews, the book seems to have three sections: pp. 1–139 are by Kyrieleis, pp. 141–246 by Eder, and pp. 247–248 by Benecke. Judging by this review, I think the part that discusses Zeus might be in the section by Kyrieleis (maybe around pp. 26–83)?

Augustus through the Ages: Receptions, Readings and Appropriations of the Historical Figure of the First Roman Emperor

Peeters Publishers, 2022. https://doi.org/10.2307/jj.10574832.13.

These two individual chapters are featured in this book (EISBN: 978-90-429-4963-8), and I need them for improving the article on Augustus, which is currently undergoing a featured article review process. The article has a wealth of information but is still lacking somewhat in details about how Augustus was perceived during Late Antiquity, the Middle Ages, and the Renaissance.

One paragraph within Aytoun Ellis, The Penny Universities

{{Resolved}}

  • Ellis, Aytoun (1956). The Penny Universities: A History of the Coffee-houses. London: Secker & Warburg. p. 239. OCLC 1616019.

English coffeehouses in the 17th and 18th centuries ends with a block quote, within which p. 239 of this seemingly well-known book is made to say that coffeehouses “had fought and won the battle age of profligacy”. This makes no sense to me, and I suspect that Ellis wrote something a lot more intelligible. (Google suggests that the book is at Hathitrust but can’t find it there. Even if it could, Hathitrust doesn’t like my IP number.)

Thanks, Hoary (talk) 02:04, 16 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Doing… will take a couple of days so if anyone can get it earlier feel free. ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me! 14:26, 19 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Hoary: You are correct that Ellis wrote something more intelligible. The correct sentence, in the book’s formatting, is as follows:

They had served their purpose and were no longer needed as
meeting-places for political or literary criticism and debate.
They had seen the nation pass through one of its greatest
periods of trial and tribulation; had fought and won the battle
for individual freedom; had acted as a steadying influence in an
age of profligacy; and had given us a standard of prose-writing
and literary criticism unequalled before or since.

My theory is that the original editor accidentally went from lines 4 to 6, skipping line 5 entirely. Please send me an email if you’d like a scan of the page. ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me! 22:03, 22 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

RPGNow Downloader Monthly (Issue 4 – March 2003). It was a free zine available for a time in the PDF format from DriveThruRPG. It is no longer available. It was not archived in IA due to being hidden behind a checkout functionality; I cannot locate it anywhere on the web (Scribid has some of the zine issue, but it does not appear to have that one). If anyone know where to find a copy, or has one to share, I’d appreciate it. What little I found about its availability (or lack of it) is at Talk:List_of_Deadlands:_The_Weird_West_publications; the only other tidbit I have is that it might have also been hosted on another defunct website, “D20 Magazine Rack” (I cannot locate a working link for it in IA).

The word for Tea in most Indian languages is “Chai” suggesting trade with inland China before British colonization. Tea however became a popular beverage introduced to India by the British. Tea plants have grown wild in the Assam region since antiquity, but historically, Indians viewed tea as an herbal medicine rather than as a recreational beverage.[8]

I’ve been searching for words like ‘trade’ and ‘China’ but I’m unable to be conclusive. Kingsacrificer (talk) 19:19, 8 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Kingsacrificer I was able to borrow this book on the Internet Archive. I didn’t find anything that seems to support the claim “historically, Indians viewed tea as an herbal medicine rather than as a recreational beverage”, but I also didn’t read it thoroughly.
This might be the relevant part that the first sentence came from: In India, where its people speak many many languages, the generic word for tea is chai. It derives from the Chinese word for tea, cha, which the British turned into tav, which then evolved into tea: this is what the western world came to call the leaf of the Camellia sinensis plant. Today, both the Japanese and the Chinese say “cha” for tea, and the Indians say “chai.” (page 7) Katzrockso (talk) 03:10, 12 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for this @Katzrockso
So basically, my skepticism was warranted? The word ‘chai’ came from the Chinese word. This doesn’t mean there was trade before colonisation. I think this is a good find. I’ll remove the sentence from the article. Thanks again!
P.S. If you find that trade was mentioned in the later pages, please let me know. Kingsacrificer (talk) 08:18, 12 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Kingsacrificer I didn’t find anything particular relevant about trade. Katzrockso (talk) 02:11, 14 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Dmitry Martynov, an author on the Russian-language Wikipedia, has already elevated 249 articles to “featured article” status. He’s now nearly finished upgrading “Lost Continents” to “good article” status, using all the sources he could find. The aforementioned review in the New York Herald Tribune remains missing. “DALLAS STRING QUARTET WILL PLAY ON MARCH 10”

{{resolved}}

For Emanuel Borok. May or may not be useful, but I won’t know until I have the full article (it’s only available as an abstract from ProQuest and I don’t use Newspapers.com much at all so I don’t want to subscribe to it via The Wikipedia Library).

Thanks, Graham87 (talk) 04:41, 4 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@Graham87 Here is that entire page [6], and I do not see anything about the Dallas String Quartet, this is all about automobiles and other advertisements. I will take a look and see if it’s on another page or something. Katzrockso (talk) 04:47, 4 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
There is a brief mention of the Dallas String Quartet playing on March 10th on the next date of the Richmond Times-Dispatch [7] (upper right). Is there anything in particular you are looking for about Emanuel Borok in 1991? There are a number of other newspapers.com hits, such as this music review of that 10 March 1991 performance [8], particularly mentioning Borok. Katzrockso (talk) 04:51, 4 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Katzrockso: Thanks … should’ve mentioned that I wasn’t 100% sure about that URL (page 38 vs a-38). The article I mentioned came to my attention because it also mentioned the Southern Methodist University (that the quartet was resident there), and I wondered if it said anything else, maybe about Borok or him teaching there. It all started from this talk page thread. It seems that newspaper articles aren’t ideal for pinning down this sort of thing but I think it’s all we have. He probably did adjunct teaching on the side and went wherever there was demand for his teaching in the local area. Graham87 (talk) 05:13, 4 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
It’s not mentioned in this biographical blurb [9]
[10] I did find this, but I’m not sure what it means.
Typically page A39 will be page 39. At least on newspapers.com, the different sections of the newspaper go sequentially alphabetically and A is the first section. Katzrockso (talk) 11:04, 4 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah I’m pretty sure he had concerts there. I found refs that mention him teaching there before 2013 (see the article), so I did the best I could with those. Graham87 (talk) 13:23, 4 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I’m pretty sure ProQuest has an error here. The articles in that issue appear to be from the Richmond News-Leader, which was folded in 1992 into the Richmond Times-Dispatch. For example, the first article they list for that issue was written by a “Goode, Randolph”, who this says was working for the News-Leader at the time. ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me! 11:31, 4 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm, interesting. Unfortunately Newspapers.com only goes from 1926 to 1963 for that paper]. I’d be OK with this request being archived if nothing turns up for a little while, seeing as how tangentially related the article I was looking for may well be, but it’s a case of so close but so far … Graham87 (talk) 13:23, 4 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
It’s available through the Library of Virginia, if anyone is a resident there, in their “America’s News: Historical and Current” database [11]. Katzrockso (talk) 22:11, 4 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Katzrockso: Thanks for that lead. I have access to Newsbank via the National Library of Australia and, once I managed to log in there, I searched for the article and was able to read it in full. It’s very brief and doesn’t say much but at least I know that for sure now. And it seems that Newsbank has other publications that ProQuest doesn’t, so it’s worth checking more often. Two articles from Locus, #389 June 1993

  • page 9 • SF Encyclopedia Launch • essay by Christopher Fowler
  • page 27 and maybe 28? • Review: The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction by John Clute and Peter Nicholls • review by Gary K. Wolfe

And while we are at it, as a bonus I’ll also take the review of book On Basilisk Station from page 33 of the same issue, to expand the relevant article as well.

(If Locus is available through any reasonable means – IA, TWPL, shadow libraries – do let me know…).

Also note that the abstract says “The author continues her examination, begun in the first issue of this journal, of the history of ice-cream and glaces …” Are you confident that you need only the continuation in August 1979 and not the first article in April 1979 (which I assume is this). —Worldbruce (talk) 14:37, 9 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Book about Konrad Möckel

{{resolved}}

For Draft:Konrad Möckel

Hi, I’m working on a biography of Konrad Möckel and need access to this book for his early life. I was able to find the table of contents, and the specific sections I would need are “1. Jugend und Studium (1892-1920)” and “2. Lehrer in Hermannstadt (1920-1925)”, although “3. Die ersten Jahre in Großpold (1925-1930)” would be great also. There is very little published information about his life before the 1930s, and the only other source I have, a journal from CEEOL, does not cover his early life enough.

I was able to find the book through the German National Library here: https://portal.dnb.de/opac/showFullRecord?currentResultId=%22Umk%C3%A4mpfte%22+and+%22Volkskirche%22+and+%22M%C3%B6ckel%2C%22+and+%22Andreas%22%26any&currentPosition=0. MIT article about Albanian Energy

Hello, I have recently found myself contributing about Albanian energy, specifically Vau i Dejës Hydroelectric Power Station which I have expanded and nominated to GAN and DYK. I would like to continue, as energy in Albania is an interesting subject both in terms of historical (communist development of energy) and contemporary (Albania gets virtually all of its electricity from hydroelectricity, and is developing hybrid power) aspects. Not only are most of our articles about Albanian power-related articles stubs, they don’t cover many power stations, especially smaller ones. Thus, I request

I think that there may be information about smaller power plants that are mentioned here because Google showed it mentioning a smaller powerplant. Sahib-e-Qiran, He Who is Otherwise Known as ‪EasternShah‬ 05:22, 10 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@Bruce1ee – Thanks for taking the time to do the research. I guess the “black nile” nickname is merely a rumor 🙂 Noleander (talk) 15:02, 11 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I don’t have access to EIO. For what it’s worth, “Black Nile” doesn’t appear in a full search against EIO [12], and the second print edition also doesn’t seem to say anything about it either in the entry for Atbara. So I would hazard that it’s not going to verify that claim. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 14:19, 11 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

  5. InQuest Gamer (1995 – 2007); 150 issues; many are available on IA[15] with another partial collection here[16]; so missing are 16, 18-22, 25, 27-32, 35, 37-38, 42, 44-48, 51, 53-57, 59-64, 66-78, 82-87, 89-129, 131-150
  6. Pyramid (1993 – 1998); 30 issues from volume 1; most of the articles can be found on the sjgames.com website, although many are incomplete snippets, so copies of the actual magazines would be preferrable (second volume was online only, third volume had no reviews, so only need first volume)
  7. Shadis (1990 – 1998); 53 issues; many issues are available on IA[17] and #25:[18] so missing are #24, 26-28, 30-33, 36-37, 39, 41-47, 49-53

Anything you can find would be a big help!

Orchids magazine and Revista Guatemalensis articles, + Dutch book on extinct plants

For Archivea, a seemingly extremely rare monotypic orchid which, to the best of my knowledge, is known only from a single illustration. The first two are articles which I haven’t been able to find online: I can only find citations to the article in Revista Guatemalensis, while the article in Orchids does seem to at least be available online to members of the American Orchid Society. The third source is a recent book that at least (according to Plants of the World Online) mentions Archivea, but I am not sure on which page(s) – any pages that mention it even briefly would be useful.

Cosmopolitan article

Hi

I’m trying to track down this article: Unpopular opinion: Our Mr Darcy obsession needs to die, by Anna Breslaw, 3 October 2013, in Cosmopolitan magazine.

I’m working on this article: List of literary adaptations of Pride and Prejudice. If you look at the first reference, it’s to the Cosmo article, yet when you click on the link, it goes to a different Cosmo article (which makes me think Cosmo has redirected it at their end to a related article). I haven’t been able to find it by Googling. I’ve tried the Internet Archive & Wayback Machine.

For Example article

@Roxy the dog (Walter Ego) since you stated you cannot access the source which I cited and which is publicly available, I do not understand why you have followed me onto this page to state that sources need interpretation. I am not offering an interpretation of any source. I wrote a very short one sentence summary of a well-established fact and you immediately reverted it. @Roxy the dog (Walter Ego), my sourced edit was very clear: “In ISKCON, Radha is worshipped alongside Krishna.” Rochford, Burke (2007). Hare Krishna Transformed. NYU Press. p. 11. ISBN 9780814776889. You reverted this edit and then stated on the talk page of the article that you did not know “what” Radha is.
Per the policy you have mentioned, “An editor who may wish to draw a wider range of informed, but uninvolved, editors to a discussion can place a message…”
I am asking these editors as for help so that I can use the exact sources they have provided because they are informed but not involved.

I came across this book and, judging by the author’s description (Damien Somville), seems to be a very reliable source in describing the music of Swift’s songs. Is there someone that could help me find the book’s chapters for “ALBUM: Speak Now“, its subchapters “Andrea Swift, Mom and Ally” and “Songwriting That Stands Out”, and “ALBUM: Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)“; even one of these chapters would be wonderful. This is so I could expand Speak Now (song) as well as If This Was a Movie.

Requesting assistance with looking at a couple sources for a draft

I’m working on a draft for an article (SCP-173) and it’s been going quite well for the most part, but due to these two sources being paid and the fact I don’t have a library card nor do I meet the requirements for Wikipedia Library access; I have found myself unable to look at them for potential extra information.

Was pointed to here after asking for assistance with this on the teahouse. I’m hoping someone here could take a look at these two for me, and edit the earlier linked draft to include any new information pertaining to the specific topic of the article that they might provide (assuming they have any at all), and if they don’t, see if they function as further sources for existing information, and cite them where relevant.
